Mr. Gamini Marapana PC, counsel representing Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, has told Court that the petition filed by Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption regarding Mr. Namal Rajapaksa not adhering to the directives of the Commission was unlawful and the Supreme Court ordered Mr. Namal Rajapaksa to make written submissions on or before 29th August.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption filed the petition stating Mr. Namal Rajapaksa insulted the Commission by not adhering to orders given by the Commission.
The petition is heard before Chief Justice K. Sri Pawan and Justice Buwaneka Aluvihare.
Mr. Gamini Marapana, representing Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, is the brother of Tilak Marapana, former Minister of Law and Order of the Maithri – Ranil government. Mr. Tilak Marapana had to resign as he was heavily criticized due to his biased attitude regarding Avant Garde incident.
