Despite it was reported later that Mr. Rohana Wijeweera was assassinated, his children or the party could not see his body and there is no information regarding many JVP Members who were arrested during this period said JVP Parliamentarian Bimal Rathnayaka in Parliament on the 11th. The Office of Missing Persons (OMP) Bill was passed in Parliament on the 11th and as soon as the OMP is established the complaints would be filed.
Mr. Bimal Rathnayaka said in Parliament that Mr. Rohana Wijeweera and other members of the JVP who were arrested by the then UNP government could be considered as the disappeared as their bodies or remains were not handed over to relatives or the party.
