International Human rights watchdog Amnesty International (AI) has closed all its offices in India and stopped its activities as Indian government has banned it and registered a sedition case against it for highlighting the ongoing human rights violations in Kashmir.
The Indian government accuses AI of instigating people to revolt. However, AI organizers say the objective of the seminar was to create awareness for justice to affectees of Kashmir and that the participants of the seminar also raised slogans in favour of Kashmir. AI rejected Indian government’s accusations as baseless.
Meanwhile, in view of security the AI has announced to close its offices and suspend all its activities in India.
64 Kashmiris have been killed while hundreds of others have been injured in a 40 day operation during the ongoing Indian oppression in Kashmir.
