Voice Against Corruption (VAC) is preparing to hold a silent protest campaign against the delay in taking legal action against fraudsters and the corrupt. The first such ‘silent protest campaign’ would be held in Colombo on the 24th morning say reports.
The convener of VAC the Member of the Central Committee of the JVP Wasantha Samarasinghe, making a statement to weekend newspapers, said the government is following an agenda to protect fraudsters and the corrupt instead of taking legal action against them.
He said the ‘silent protest campaign’ would be to demand the government not to pressurize institutions that take legal action and to tell the government to stop having deals with perpetrators.
Mr. Samarasinghe said he is prepared to take legal action against the move to disregard Supreme Court decision regarding the coal racket and is in the process of filing the case on lawyers’ instructions.
He said he has already filed more than 100 complaints against ministers in the ‘yahapalana’ government and more would be filed soon.
