The Executive Committee of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) decided to appoint the JVP for the post of Vice-President of the organization at the 19th General Assembly held in Havana recently.
Three posts of vice-presidents are allocated for regions and the Socialist Youth Union (SYU) was appointed as the Vice – President for the Asian region.
The National Organizer of SYU Mr. Bimal Rathnayaka and the Member of the Central Committee of the JVP Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa participated in the Assembly representing the JVP.
The appointment of the JVP for the post of vice – president of the WFDY is a victory the party received at international level said a spokesman for the party.
The WFDY is an anti-Imperialistic world youth organization founded in 1945. It includes more than 200 leftist, progressive and liberal youth organizations throughout the world. Founded in 1945 and recognized by the United Nations, the WFDY brings together a large number of youth movements of the world.
