Information has been revealed that Daya Master, a leader of the LTTE who surrendered to government forces at the end of the war, was given a TV channel by the former Mahinda Rajapaksa regime.
It is also revealed that most of the manual labour for the construction of the TV channel had been carried out by SL Army.
The information regarding the private TV channel belonging to Daya Master was revealed when soldiers, who were dismantling giant bill boards of a TV channel put up at various places in the North, were arrested by the police.
Daya Master, who had been a senior leader of the LTTE had told the police that he was the guardian of the private TV channel and he had instructed the soldiers to dismantle bill boards belonging to the channel.
An article in ‘Lankadeepa’ states the incident indicates the illegal manner former regime acted regarding LTTE members. When LTTE leaders such as Daya Master, KP, Karuna Amman and Pilleyan enjoyed various benefits including ministerial portfolios gifted to them by the government, youths who have had mere connection with the LTTE are still lingering in detention camps.
