Former President Kurunegala MP Mahinda Rajapaksa has been summoned by Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power, State Resources and Privileges tomorrow (15th). He is expected to make a statement to the Commission.
It is stated that there had been an agreement to telecast from 24th November, 2014 to 5th January, 2015 Mr. Rajapaksa’s advertisements as he was a candidate of the presidential election and only Rs.62,639,600 had been paid. It has also been revealed that Mr. Rajapaksa owes ITN Rs. 101,773,058.
It has also been revealed that despite an agreement of Rs. 44,678,812 had been reached to telecast advertisements for Mr. Maithripala Sirisena’s campaign, only advertisements worth Rs. 2,647,812 had been telecast and the balance had to be paid to Mr. Maithripala Sirisena incurring a massive loss to ITN.
