The Minister of Foreign Affairs G.L. Peiris has told media that the government was planing to invite US Secretary of State John Kerry to visit Sri Lanka.
It is also reported that Mr. Sachin Vaas Gunawardene, a powerful MP of the UPFA government is behind the move to get down John Kerry, the Secretary of State of the US that has paved the path for the Human Rights Commission to work against Sri Lanka using alleged human rights violations.
It is stated that Mr. Sachin Vaas Gunwardene has had several secret talks during his visit to the USA recently. It is reported that the three foreign ‘experts’ appointed for the ‘Maxwel Paranagama commission’ that has been appointed by the President as an alternative to the international commission appointed by the UNHRC to investigate loss of civilian life during the war was on an agreement reached during these discussions.
John Kerry’s visit to Sri Lanka is the next step of this manaoever and it has been agreed to show that Kerry’s visit is carried out on an invitation from Sri Lanka. As such, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would ‘extend’ an invitation to Kerrry to visit Sri Lanka and the group of ‘patriots’ in the government would bray stating Kerry comes here only as a tourist.
