President Mahinda Rajapakse discussed the implementation of recommendations by the UN experts’ panel report with him says United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon . The UN Secretary General says he met President Rajapaksa just two weeks ago on the occasion of the United Nations General Assembly and discussed the matter.
According to the UN Secretary General President Rajapakse has assured him he would do his best to ensure the human rights of all Tamil People are protected and promoted and will adopt all domestic measures to see that justice prevails.
Ban ki-moon speaking to Norwegian media in Oslo, where he attended the Norwegian Government hosted International Climate and Energy Summit, had also said that he had been waiting till the Sri Lankan government responded positively to the implementation of recommendations by the UN experts’ panel report and just a couple of weeks ago he had decided to refer the report to the Human Rights Council.
He has told the media that Sri Lankan government should implement the recommendations of his ‘Experts panel.’
