to defeat Private Blood Bank Bill
Lanka Truth 20th
August, 2008. 06.00 AM
Main
trade unions in the health sector have come together to demand
that the government withdraw the proposed private blood bank
draft bill. In addition to All Ceylon Government Health Officers
Union other trade unions of the health sector such as All Ceylon
Government Ayurvedha Officers Union and
All Ceylon Health Service Union, All Ceylon Government Ayurvedic
Medical Officers Union, All Ceylon Government Medical Officers'
Association, All Ceylon Nurses' Union
will take the initiative in the campaign.
A campaign to distribute leaflets to inform the masses regarding
the proposed bill has been organized and as its first step
10,000 leaflets would be distributed opposite Fort Railway
Station in Colombo today at 4.00 p.m.
President of All Ceylon Government Health Officers Union
Gishanthe Dasanayake speaking to 'Lankatruth' said, "Media in
this country as well as most of the trade unions and other
organizations have failed to set before the masses correct
information regarding the 'proposed private blood bank draft
bill' of the government. Many have ignored this 'bill' and talk
about other things. However, this 'bill' is perilous to the
country.
Hence, our union decided to get the support of other health
sector trade unions to carry out a struggle to demand the
government to withdraw the proposed bill."
An interview 'Lankatruth' had with President of All Ceylon
Government Health Officers Union Gishanthe Dasanayake appears in
