crushing defeat– JVP

Amidst
the disadvantageous situation it is facing in the North Central
and Sabaragamuwa PC elections the government has deployed
violence and is preparing to plunder the votes of the people
states the JVP.
Mr. Chameera Koswatte, chief ministerial candidate of the JVP
for Sabaragamuwa Province speaking at a media meeting organized
by the JVP to apprise the media regarding the latest position of
the PC elections said the presumptions that the government could
win the elections have been shattered by now.
Speaking further he said, "In spite of the government engages in
a corrupt exercise of using its powers to utilize state
properties, vehicles and officials in its election campaign, it
has totally failed in its propaganda activities. In such a
situation the government has no other alternative but to deploy
violence and engage in a plunder of votes.
The rest houses, circuit bungalows and official quarters for
state officials have been reserved and thugs are being deployed.
They are using all the state power they could use. If the
government is convinced that they could win elections by
violence the threat of launching violence in every future
election exists.
It is the responsibility of all those who cherish democracy to
defeat this trend. For this not only the people in the North
Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces but also in other areas of
the country should come forward."
Chief ministerial candidate of North Central Province Wasanthe
Samarasinghe and leader of the group of JVP candidates for
Kegalle District Mahinda Jayasinghe also participated. |
